Shake it like Shakira

We all know the Columbian singer Shakira’s hips don’t lie. It’s obvious every time she performs her hips are swaying left to right, right to left. Have you ever wondered how this busy mother of two keeps her energy up and those hips moving?

Well according to a couple of her recent instagram post, she shows us just how she gets it done. It comes as no surprise that she loves to dance and that’s just what she does to keep her energized and fit. Dancing is one of the best ways to get your cardio workout in and not feel like you’ve been stuck in the gym for hours. It’s a fun way to sweat away those extra pounds.

Zumba is one of the most popular workout dance routines that people all over have adopted to get their one hour of cardio in. Even if you’re not a lover of dance, you will definitely fall in love with just one class. If whining your hips to some Latin and Caribbean music doesn’t work for you, then there are other dance classes that you can try as well. For instance there is a hip hop dance class called Funkaerobics that is similar to Zumba, but focuses more on 8-count dance routines. This type of dance aerobics class still hits all of those important areas, such as abs, back and gluteus. Another type of dance that is fun yet a way to still workout is line dancing. If you’ve ever learned a dance that involves you having to go “to the left, to the right, now back it up one time…” then you have been line dancing. This is more of a lighter dance workout that can still get those calories burning and give your legs a good toning.

It’s always important to make sure you can get a good cardio workout in. If you have ever considered hiring a trainer or have one already, then you know one of the main things they focus on is cardio. What better way to shake it up with a little dance. Whether it is hip hop dance, Zumba or line dancing, it is still movement of the body. As long as it is  for a constant period of time that burns off those calories then it can be considered your cardio workout for the day.

Go ahead and get your dance on!
