Our hearts break to face the death of Big Ang from Vh1’s hit reality show, Mob wives. Raiola was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the throat, that later spread to her brain and lungs, taking her life at age 55.

After watching last nights airing of Mob wives, rumors began to hit the internet that Big Ang had faced death. Only to find out a few hours later that these were all just rumors, however her condition was severe. Her family was called to her side as her trials of chemotherapy had taken a turn for the worst. In the middle of the night and early Thursday morning, she was pronounced dead.

Big Ang owned a bar in Staten Island called the Drunken Monkey that did very well for years.  Her career grew in reality tv, getting a spin off of her own show “Big Ang”, opening up a bar in Miami as well.She was an extremely charming women and was the peace maker on the show. A couple of years later and most recently appeared in Vh1’sCouples Therapy”, where celebrities work on their issues with their loved ones. Angela’s relationship was on the up and up and began to build with her life partner Neil during the show. She briefly shared  her struggle with cancer and the fight for both her husband and the deadly disease.

Appearing back on Mob wives season 6, Ang had a change of events happen. She lost her bar to accusations of an arrest in her earlier years. It was said that she was not able to hold a liquor license and the bar needed to be shut down. On top of all this stress, she found out that her cancer had come back after having a tumor removed from her throat. This time it had spread to her lungs and brain.

Big Ang recently appeared on Dr.Oz just a few days ago, talking about her ability to cope through her children and six grandchildren. She stated she was on the  show to be an advocate against smoking, “if you smoke then stop and if you never smoked then don’t start”. Big Ang stopped smoking after the first time she found out she was diagnosed.

Cancer is an uphill battle that many of us have faced a loved one fight for. Big Ang was an amazing human being and had a big heart. She touched lives through reality tv, at home, and her local bar. She was the life of the party on earth and we’re sure she will be in heaven.  If you know someone that may have signs of cancer, be supportive and encourage them to see a doctor as soon as possible. Life is too short to put your health on hold.  Maintaining a healthier lifestyle and partying without substance abuse can results in a longer life line.
