Emotions are an inevitable part of life that can alter our day to day moves. Many people struggle with trying to understand why they feel certain types of ways or try to understand another person and their feelings. Reality of emotions is that it dictates our thoughts, actions and intentions without reasonable doubt which often trumps our rational mind. We cry when we’re sad or upset, we yell or act out when we’re angry, we smile and laugh when we’re happy, all of these actions are result of an emotion. As you can see emotions vary, and if the wrong emotion is not handled accordingly then, it could possibly cause more harm than good. According to research there are several ways to identify different types of emotions and how to work them out for the betterment of you.

There are six ways to work out your emotions, according to Huff Post healthy living

1. Don’t react right away. Try to think about what you do or say before you react. Emotions have a way of taking over and making us think irrationally. This could lead to a more dangerous outcome that you may regret in the long run.

2. Ask for a divine guidance. What this looks like is believing in a higher power. Studies show when you believe in a higher power, you also believe in the power of divine intervention to show you what you must do. When your emotions have gotten the best of you, close your eyes, take a deep breath and speak to your spirit. Essentially you’re releasing those energies into the universe for it to come back to you with answers that you need.

3. Find a healthy outlet. Once you have a handle on your emotions, find an outlet to release it to. That could be a close friend or family member, someone you trust. It could also mean going to the gym working out negative emotions that may have been weighing you down, how about a kickboxing class or yoga! Fabletics has some great fits to make you look good while working out. No matter what you choose, always find a way to release bottled up emotions. Keeping them in is not the healthiest decision.

4. See the bigger picture. Being optimistic is how you should go into emotional situations. Try to look at things from a bigger perspective, futuristic. Going into to certain situations with a close mind will not get a happy ending. Certainly if there are a lot of negative emotions flowing, you want to trust that there is an ultimate purpose which you will eventually grow to understand. First you have to be willing to understand.

5. Replace your thoughts. Your thoughts become your reality, so learn to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. This will set your mind up for happier thoughts which will result in happier emotions.

6. Forgive your emotional trigger. This one is a major key. Why? Holding a grudge with yourself can be detrimental to your mental. You have to learn to forgive your emotional triggers, you’re only human. These triggers can actually result into something better for you. So don’t be mad at yourself for being too emotional, you may need that moment to get through a tough time.

These simple tips are a healthy ways to workout those tough emotions that can sometimes get the best of you. Don’t get so lost in your emotions that you lose yourself. Remember take deep breath, relax, and regroup before reacting.
