How to start a sugar free diet

We all know that sugar is not healthy for your body. Although it seems like when we are having a long tiresome day it helps keep us awake. This can be true since it is filled with chemicals that interact with our brain consistently. However there is a way that we can still eat healthy sugar and stay away from the added sugars, like artificial flavoring. It is said that if you can kick sugar for 2 weeks from your diet then your taste buds will begin to adapt to other foods that contain healthy sugar like vegetables and fruit. Here are the ways we can start to kick the sugar:

1. Increase your protein and vegetable intake.
2. Reduce grains from your diet as they convert to sugar.
3. Don’t skip meals regularly, as your body will react by causing your blood sugar to dip and make you crave sweets.
4. Don’t count calories and restrict fat as it will make your crave for sugar more.
5. Eat cultured and lacto-fermented foods.
6. Before you buy something read the label and know the other names for sugar, like high fructose corn syrup, dried cane syrup, invert sugar, molasses, sucrose (or any word ending in “-ose”), brown rice syrup, honey, and maple syrup.
7. Use vanilla bean, nutmeg, cinnamon, or citrus zests which have zero calories.
8.Avoid drinking your sweets. Sodas and juices are loaded with unhealthy sugar, so stay away!
