Holidays at the hospital with Nick Cannon

The last place anybody wants to be during the holiday season is the hospital. Millions of people travel during these joyous moments, but for some that traveling can come to a sudden halt. In the most recent celebrity news, multi-talented entertainer Nick Cannon experienced just that. Cannon had been in and out of the hospital due to health complications from battling Lupus. During his latest stay in the hospital during the Christmas holiday, Cannon let it be known that he wasn’t going to let it steal his joy. In a released video via his Instagram detailing his stay and how he plans to stay strong, “I didn’t know all these people loved me” Cannon says he wants to go into the new year taking it to a whole new level. “I can’t sit here and be dormant no more.” It’s always good to see when someone can turn, what is said to be a negative experience, into something so positive. Nick Cannon is just one of many people who have had to share their holiday vacation in the hospital. Although he was in there because of a very serious health complication, he didn’t let that upset his spirit. If you or anyone you know find yourselves in the hospital this holiday season, don’t get down…here are some ways to continue to stay on a positive path to better days:

1. Allow visitors: it’s so important to be surrounded by people who genuinely care about you and your well being. Some people don’t want others to see them in the state of hospitalization, however when you have family and friends who only care about your wellness, they tend not to care that your hair is in a hospital bonnet and your Christmas outfit is a tied up white and blue gown.
2. Memories of keep sakes: if your hospital stay is going to be a couple of days, go ahead and decorate your room with holiday décor. Have someone bring a small Christmas tree, presents, lights and your favorite holiday scents. Have pictures of family and friends on the night stand. You may as well make it feel homey since you may be in there for a while.
3. Think positive:no one ever wants to hear that they have major medical issues that may cause them more pain than joy, however you have to find a way to remain positive. Like Nick Cannon, make the decision that you won’t let whatever disease or health issues take over you life. You own your life, so own your happiness, especially during the holiday season. It’s so easy to get down and depressed during this time of year, so it’s extra important to surround yourself with as much positivity as possible.
4. Music: everyone knows music moves the soul. If you’re in a room by yourself, find out if you can have a little boom box playing your favorite Christmas carols. This is definite way to keep your spirit uplifted.
5. Believe: believe that you will get better. It’s so important to have faith and believe that you will get through this. Understand in that this could be inspiration journey and when the times comes you will turn this test into a testimony.

Whether it’s you or your close friend/family member that has to spend the holiday season in the hospital, keep these tips in mind. It’s hard to believe anybody wants to be alone for the holidays, let alone in the hospital. So be that uplifting person for them and for yourself to get through the tough times.
