Food that’s good for the heart and mind

We have all these political party shindigs going on, and it could seem a bit overwhelming. Everyone is trying to rule this great country with their own ideas. That’s fine and all, but it’s everywhere. It seems you can’t escape any word of it. I’m not stating it’s all hearsay and I know it’s  extremely important because it has a direct relation to our lives. My family always said, “if all things seem the same, it’s best to take a break and come back with fresh eyes”. So that includes eyes, ears, and could be your nose. Why nose? Because if you’re going to go somewhere to adjust and reset, you should definitely take care of all your senses and that doesn’t exclude your nose and tastebuds.

My suggestions to a full rejuvenating mind has plenty to do with your food. Let’s take today’s meal for example. We’ve all had salad, all have had salmon, and most have eaten wontons. This might sound crazy, but I’ve never steered you down a bumpy path.

What’s your favorite greens in a salad? Grab them. I happen to like a dark mixed green leafy salad or you could easily go with a simple arugula.

Salmon. Perfect food that’s good for the heart and mind. A great fish that has many benefits to our bodies. The particular salmon that I’ve purchased was from none other than Trader Joe’s. They are salmon patties. Pinkish box that contain 4 pieces of salmon. Cooks on the skillet in just 4 minutes per side. If you can’t get to a TJ’s, then by all means purchase salmon and prepare how you’d like.

Finally, boiled vegetable wontons. They can be purchased already made or from your local supermarket, especially Trader Joe’s.

Next up is to get a very good avocado. Serving size is about half. Slice into 8 thin pieces.

As a topping,  I chose a spicy Asian peanut sauce,  but you maybe simply add extra virgin olive oil & vinegar.

Now this all seems like a lot, but it will feed you for quite a few meals. So it is easy on the pocketbook.

When you’re ready, add lettuce to your bowl, salmon, wontons, and avocado on top. Pour over your favorite sauce and serve. BAM, BOOM, AND Voilá !

This dish will guarantee you to clear your mind and body for the next political flood of news to reach your ears.  Ha!
