Eliminate unwanted cramps

Every month or so you get a little visit from mother nature and unfortunately for some it is not so pleasant. You know what I’m talking about ladies…that excruciating, undesirable pain in your tummy called menstrual cramps. Although these are not your ordinary muscle cramps, these too can be worked out. Getting a good work out in before or during that time has great health benefits  and even better benefits to eliminate unwanted cramps. We know the last thing you want to do during that time of the month is get all hot and sweaty, but here are some ways that may change your mind…

Health experts explain that working out releases endorphins. Endorphins are “feel-good neuropeptides” that provide a natural high.

Getting in a good cardiovascular work out is at the top of the list when it comes to alleviating pain from cramps. Ex: running, jogging, going to your favorite aerobics class…

Any exercise that “raises your heart rate to at least 65 percent of your max is the best activity to help relieve cramps” according to strength and fitness trainer Michelle Lovett.

It is also noted that doing at least two and half hours of medium-intense activity during the week can help prevent future cramps.

Stay away from heavy lifting, this will intensify the pain. Very very light lifting if you must.

Oh and fellas, we haven’t forgotten about you. If your girlfriend is going through it, the best way to help her out is to get up and go work out with her. Not only will you gain extra brownie points, but you will also be able to work out those muscles that she adores.

Contrary to what it looks like, working out does not have to be painful, it can relieve pain. So the next time you feel those irritating cramps approaching, set some time aside to get your work out on.
